Dr. E.O Awosope's Teaching on 2016 Christmas Day (December 25, 2016) - True Meaning Of Christmas

Dr. E.O. Awosope started with the story of a “Young man who has committed lot of atrocities that has warranted him to be arrested and charged to court. He appeared before the Judge in court and was about to be sentenced before his friend shows up voluntarily give himself in place of this guy, he was set free and his friend took his place of death”. If this young man, who was due for death set aside a day and date to celebrate this friend of his, it is worth more than that. 

Christmas celebration doesn’t answer to DAY and DATE but you must understand the meaning of Christmas before you can celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, which is LOVE – John 3:16-17.

The true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of God’s love to mankind. We are celebrating neither the date nor the day but the DAY God showed His love towards mankind, the day He didn’t condemn mankind.

Christmas is celebrating God becoming man, coming in the person of Jesus Christ, leaving His throne to dwell with man, which brought about Emmanuel – God with us, His coming brought back joy to the world. 

Why Christmas?

§  Christmas is necessary because the whole world needs a Saviour – 1 John 4:8

§  It is for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

§  It is to show gratitude for what God did for us by giving us a Child, Son and King.

§  It is a season of GIVING.

§  It is the celebration of the demonstration of God’s love towards mankind – Romans 5:8.

§  This is the celebration of when our hope was restored – Isaiah 9:6-7.

What To Give?

§  Give your life afresh

§  Give your treasures

§  Give your time to share the goodnews

§  Give your love to all

§  Give yourself a good time

§  Give more commitment to God and His work

      Personal Summary Of Dr. Awosope’s Teaching: The quality of what you give will determine the quality of what comes to you. God gave His best, His best given has drawn many to His side and still drawing many on a daily basis.
